Q: How can I get a gig at Club Passim?

Due to the volume of requests we receive, we are not able to offer bookings to everyone who contacts us.  Generally speaking, we book about four months out from the current date.

In the meantime, please take advantage of area open mics, clubs, and radio shows--and keep us apprised of your performances.

If you send us your materials, we will keep them on file and will contact you if we would like to schedule you for a date at the Club.

We try to respond to feedback we receive from the community, so create a buzz about yourself and we will respond to it!

Q: If I get a gig at Club Passim. What do I need to do next?

Club Passim produces 30-40 shows a month, 400-500 shows a year, presenting over 600 artists a year to over 25,000 patrons per year. It takes a combination of venue AND artist support to make every event successful!

The ultimate issue is how we can generate an audience cooperatively. It is very competative marketplace and we will need your support to get the audience out. It is very important for each artists to help Club Passim reach the right audiences for each individual artist or group.

Suggestions
1. Make sure that you post the correct information about shows!  Make sure to get the correct showtime, phone number and websites on all of your materials.  Showtimes may vary - so be sure to find out what the correct showtime is.  The address/phone/website of Club Passim is:

Club Passim
47 Palmer St.
Cambridge, MA 02138
617-492-7679 (tickets)
www.passimcenter.org

2. Send out postcards, flyers and/or emails to your mailing list, friends and family. Send out your own press release to specific media contacts who you have a direct relationship with. Send out a press release and photograph to your hometown paper.

You can get media lists and coordinate your PR approach with Susan Scotti -

3. Schedule radio interviews on WERS, WUMB, WGBH, WBUR, WMFO and other area radio stations on the day of the performance or during the week prior to the performance.

There is no one way to reach the public. The most successful shows are usually a combination of these approaches which reinforce each other. Club Passim will do its best to support each and every show.

Q: What is campfire.?

Our "campfire." festival is held over Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends (Fri-Mon) and then in a miniature version over Presidents Day Weekend (Sat-Sun).  The main festivals incorporate upwards of 100 artists playing solo, in-the-round, or in band sets.  Collaboration is key to this festival!

campfire. is a great entrance-level gig to the area, but also is a great way to build your email list, sell CDs and meet & collaborate with artists from around the country.  Many of our regular headliners got their start at campfire.   Booking for Memorial Day begins min-February and booking for Labor Day begins at the beginning of June.

campfire. is a non-paying gig, so performers should feel free to book other local area performances while thy are in town.

Best wishes,
Club Passim
